Social Network Login

Social Network Login allows guests to access WiFi using a supported social media account.

WiFi Hotspot can use the available default social applications for a simple setup, or you can configure your own social applications when custom credentials and provider-specific settings are required.

The profile information returned after authentication depends on the selected social network, user permissions, and the provider's current API and privacy policies.

Add Social Network Login

To add Social Network Login to a Splash Page:

  1. Open Splash Pages.

  2. Select the Splash Page you want to edit.

  3. Open the Login tab.

  4. Click Logins.

  5. Locate Social Network.

  6. Click Add.

  7. Open Settings.

  8. Configure the required social networks and options.

  9. Click Save Changes.

  10. Save the Splash Page.

Main Login Button

Use Main Login Button to define the text visitors see before opening the social login options.

For example:

Connect with Social Login

The preview shows how the button will appear on the Splash Page.

Use clear wording so visitors immediately understand that the button provides access through a social account.

Select Social Networks

Enable the social networks that should be available to WiFi visitors.

The current configuration provides options for supported providers such as:

  • Facebook

  • X

  • LinkedIn

  • Google

  • VK

  • LINE

Only enable providers that you intend to offer to guests.

A smaller selection of relevant login options often provides a cleaner guest experience than displaying every available provider.

Default Social Apps

WiFi Hotspot includes default social applications configured for supported providers.

For most deployments, using the default applications is the simplest option because you do not need to create and maintain your own application in each social network's developer portal.

Social providers control their authentication systems and may change API requirements, permissions, login procedures, or available profile information over time.

Custom Apps

Enable Custom Apps when you want to use your own social application instead of the default WiFi Hotspot application.

The Custom Apps section provides provider-specific configuration tabs. Depending on the selected provider, you may need credentials such as:

  • App ID

  • App Secret

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret

  • Other provider-specific application values

Enter only credentials created for your own application.

Do not share App Secrets or Client Secrets publicly or include them in Splash Page content.

Configure a Custom Social Application

The exact procedure for creating a social application is controlled by the social network provider and can change frequently.

For this reason, WiFi Hotspot does not attempt to reproduce every provider's developer portal step by step.

When a custom application is required:

  1. Create the application through the provider's official developer portal.

  2. Enable the required login or authentication functionality.

  3. Configure the required redirect or callback URL.

  4. Configure permissions or scopes.

  5. Complete provider verification or approval when required.

  6. Obtain the application credentials.

  7. Enter those credentials under Custom Apps in WiFi Hotspot.

  8. Save and test the login process.

For provider-specific guidance, see Custom Social Login Apps.

Social Button Type

The Customization section controls how social login options are displayed.

Use Social button type to choose the preferred button presentation.

When Large button is enabled, the available social login options are displayed using the larger button style.

Choose the format that fits the Splash Page layout and remains easy to use on mobile devices.

Login Header Text

Use Login header text to customize the text displayed above the social network choices.

The default value can use the WiFi Hotspot language token:

#LOGIN-WITH-SOCIAL#

When the predefined token is used, WiFi Hotspot can display the corresponding translation according to the supported browser language.

Replace it with custom text only when you want the same specific wording displayed instead.

Login Button Text

Use Login button text to control the text displayed on the social login button.

The default token is:

Predefined language tokens are useful when the Splash Page supports multiple languages.

Social Login and User Data

Do not assume that every social network returns the same user information.

Depending on the provider and application configuration, available information may vary according to:

  • Provider API policies

  • Permissions or scopes

  • User consent

  • Application approval

  • Privacy settings

Design your WiFi workflow so that it does not depend on profile information that the selected provider does not guarantee.

Whitelist Requirements

The authentication services used by the selected social networks must be reachable before the guest receives full Internet access.

Configure the required entries in the router, gateway, access point, or controller Whitelist / Walled Garden.

Use the Whitelist guide as the configuration reference for the required entries. Social providers can change authentication domains and services, so test every enabled provider after configuration and review provider requirements if login stops working.

Test Social Network Login

After configuration:

  1. Click Save Changes.

  2. Save the Splash Page.

  3. Connect a test device to the guest WiFi network.

  4. Select Connect with Social Login.

  5. Choose one of the enabled providers.

  6. Complete the provider authentication.

  7. Confirm that the guest returns successfully to the WiFi login process.

  8. Verify that Internet access is granted.

  9. Confirm that the user and session appear correctly in the WiFi Hotspot dashboard.

  10. Repeat the test for every enabled social network.

When Custom Apps are used, test with a normal social network account in addition to any developer or administrator account.

If Social Login Stops Working

Social authentication depends on external providers and can be affected by changes outside WiFi Hotspot.

If a previously working provider stops authenticating users, check the application status, credentials, redirect or callback URL, permissions, provider approval status, whitelist configuration, and the provider's current developer documentation.

When the problem affects only one social network, investigate that provider first rather than changing the complete Splash Page configuration.
