Follow these steps to configure your Edgecore router for a Cloud WiFi Hotspot using the provided settings.
Login to the Router.
Access the router’s web interface by typing the router’s IP address into a web browser.
Log in using your administrator credentials.
Go to System › Service Zone › Service Zone Configuration
Set RADIUS as Default in Authentication Options
Click “Server2” and change the Postfix from “radius” to “.”
Configure Redirect URL.
Go to the Captive Portal settings or a similar section in your router’s web interface.
This will ensure users are directed to the proper login page.
Configure RADIUS Settings
Navigate to the Users › External Authentication › RADIUS
Type controller’s WAN MAC address to NAS Identifier with “xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx” format
Enter the following RADIUS server information:
Click “Apply” to save the setting.
These credentials allow the router to authenticate users and manage bandwidth.
Set External URL in General Login Page
Under the General Login Page or Hotspot Settings, configure the External URL for login:

Wide Area AP Management (WAPM)
Enable Wide Area AP Management on DEVICES settings.
Click CAPWAP and enable it.
Enter the Template page and click “Configure” on Wireless Network.
Type in SSID and select Security Method. The purpose is mainly to select Complete Tunnel and point to the Authentication Service zone, which in this case is the Default Service Zone.
When an AP joins the controller, it will appear on the AP List. Select the AP and apply the pre-defined template.
AP Configuration (EAP101)
Go to System › System Settings › Management Settings.
Select “EWS-Series Controller” .
Click “On” on CAPWAP and Static Discovery.
Add the controller‘s WAN IP address to “AC Address.”
In this case, the AC Address must be a public IP address.
Click “Save & Apply” and wait for a while, EAP101 will find the controller and join to its AP list automatically.
When AP joins the controller, Select the AP and apply the pre-defined template.
Laptop connects to SSID and get the portal page, passing the user name and password to access the Internet.
Install SSL Certificate
Install an SSL certificate on the router to avoid SSL warnings when users connect to the WiFi network.
To do this, navigate to the Security or SSL settings section.
Follow the router’s specific instructions for uploading and activating the SSL certificate.
Note: Installing the SSL certificate is critical to prevent security warnings during login.
RADIUS Attributes for Bandwidth Control
The RADIUS server can control the following attributes for connected users:
Download Speed
Upload Speed
Session Time
Bandwidth Data Usage
These attributes allow you to manage and enforce specific bandwidth policies for users on the network.
